National Grantmaking Programs

Media Justice Fund | OUT Fund | Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media | Saguaro Fund | The Martín-Baró Fund

Saguaro Fund

At this time there are no current guidelines or deadlines for calendar year 2010.  As our new grantmaking initiative is developed announcements will be posted.

In addition to the FEX general funding criteria cited on the National Grant Programs page, the Saguaro Fund also requires that organizations:

  • primarily serve and are directly representative of communities of color.
  • are led by community members:  people of color must make-up the majority of both the staff as well as the board of the applying organization.
  • engage in grassroots organizing.
  • actively involve constituencies who are represented on the board, staff and/or in other leadership positions.

In addition, the Fund prioritizes organizations that may also be:

  • emphasizing leadership development.
  • promoting the leadership of marginalized peoples within communities of color, including poor/low-income people, women, youth, elders, people with disabilities, lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, trans and intersex people.
  • working in coalitions and organizations doing multi-issue work that minimize divisions.
  • organizing in rural communities.
  • promoting workers’ rights.

The Saguaro Fund considers requests for general or project support.

NOTE:

  • FEX Activist-Advised Funds - and National Office Grantmaking Programs in general - support progressive social justice organizing work in the U.S., its territories and jurisdictions.

  • The last Grantmaking Docket was published in the fall of 2005, and the Docket grantmaking program was discontinued effective the end of the corresponding 2005 annual grants cycle.
